Job purpose:A Senior Rotating Equipment engineer to work on PMC projects in Front End Engineering (FEED) contractor’s office on an upstream oil & gas project. Reporting lines and interactions:• Functionally reports to: Chief Mechanical Engineer• Operationally reports to: Project Lead Mechanical Engineer• Directly supervises (operationally): n/a• Key interactions (internally, externally): Engineers within Mechanical and other disciplines from FEED contractor, Project team and Client. Job scope (budget, management, specific criteria): dimensions of the jobA Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer shall possess a thorough working knowledge of all classes of rotating equipment, including Compressors, Steam Turbines, Gas Turbines and Pumps, and will also be able to demonstrate experience in coordinating equipment packages that involve a combination of rotating and static equipment. The knowledge shall extend to include the requirements of other disciplines involved in the procurement, design (interface) and installation of equipment. Applicants must be able to anticipate problems, understand customer needs and provide proactive solutions in line with the organization’s objectives. They must also be able to evaluate highly complex ideas, determine innovative solutions, present options along with their advantages and disadvantages, and lead in the decision to implement the final solutions. Profile:Candidates must also have a working knowledge of recognized industry codes and standards along with exposure to materials of construction, welding and NDE fundamentals. Individuals shall be well-versed in writing technical specifications, preparing design calculations, studies, requisitions, technical bid evaluations and performing vendor document reviews. Software knowledge shall include Microsoft Office applications. Must have:• Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university with extensive relevant experience in the oil/gas industry and must have previous PMC experience.• Extensive expertise in design & selection of static equipment for oil and gas projects is essential. Must be fully knowledgeable about codes, standards & recommended practices for this discipline. Experience with Consultant or owner organisation in the execution of similar projects is a must. Such participation in projects in Middle East is beneficial.• Chartered (C.Eng or Eur.Ing) or registered engineer (US) status membership of an internationally recognised institution is mandatory. Main accountabilities:Accountable, within a project environment, to the Project Manager, Engineering Management for scope of equipment assigned. Provide technical leadership for the rotating equipment design and review deliverables prepared by the FEED contractor. Additional information:5 month contract based in Farnborough.
