The Role:• Reviews mechanical design of projects for technical accuracy, compliance, completeness and feasibility to governing codes and requirements. • Establishes technical guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new manners and draws Mechanical Engineer represents the owners team and plays a critical role in defining extensive mechanical scope of work required for the project, which includes central processing facility and casing gas collection sites layouts and then working with contractors and other stakeholders to develop all necessary engineering deliverables needed in phases 2-4 as the project progresses. Design Team Lead Key Job Responsibilities: • During pre-FEED, work in an integrated manner with the Engineering Contractor (pre-FEED) to lead the development of the conceptual field and CPF mechanical activities including static and rotating equipment scope of work. • Coordinate and ensure optimized design of the critical mechanical systems for the field and CPF, which supports operating steam injection and production targets. • Work in an integrated manner with Engineering Contractor (FEED and Detailed Design) to ensure all mechanical engineering deliverables meet the quality requirements and support the Project requirements as documented in the Basis of Design. • Provide mechanical engineering input into system design optimization opportunities. • Lead and review mechanical specifications development, identify required resources and support, ensure their input into the review process, consolidate feedback to the contractor and make sure that robust and adequate specifications are developed and approved. • Develop and review mechanical material selection report. • Develop and review mechanical equipment and loads. • Develop and review mechanical equipment data sheets. • Work with Engineering Contractor to prepare required mechanical sections for an EPC package. • Coordinate with HES to ensure the mechanical systems design supports the safety, environmental and security objectives of the project. • Coordinate with operations and maintenance to ensure the mechanical systems design meet operational safety and reliability requirements. • Provide mechanical engineering input to operations plans for system commissioning and start-up. • Support the management of change process by early identification of potential scope changes and provision of mechanical engineering input for evaluation of change impacts. • Support the interface management process at the interfaces between CPF and field facilities, and between CPF and Wafra Joint Operations facilities. • Support the risk management process by early identification of potential risks. • Support project assurance activities (e.g. design assurance reviews, IPA, peer reviews) by provision of technical documentation and support materials. • Participate in applicable VIPs and best practices and identify applicable lessons learned. • Support permitting and other regulatory activities through final regulatory approval. • Support project wide safety initiatives including implementation of Incident & Injury free (IIF) and Safety VIPs. Education: • BS Engineering required Required Skills: • Minimum of 15-20 years relevant experience. • Extensive knowledge of oil field, utility systems and process plant mechanical equipment and piping systems and off plot pipelines. • Steam networks design is a plus. • Experience in developing, optimizing and evaluating rotating equipment packages for large complex integrated facilities requiring very high reliability while still maintaining a strong cost focus. • Experience in 3D model development/review process • Experience in planning for developing deliverables needed for conceptual, front end and detailed design • Extensive knowledge of industry standards relevant to piping, specification development and review experience • Experience with translating project process safety and environmental objectives into design objectives in a practical cost effective manner. • Experience with formal processes to assess safety and environmental risks, and then implementing solutions. • Must champion safety performance of the force. Behaviour/Organizational Competencies: • Demonstrated ability to work in diverse multi-cultural team. • Innovative thinker, with an ability to tactfully challenge conventional paradigms. • Able to work in an integrated fashion with operations, drilling, contractors and partner representatives to review and optimize engineering designs. • Adept at adopting lessons learned from prior projects. For further information or to discuss any opportunities, please contact Donovan Cole at Fircroft on <phone number removed>
