Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer - Qatar

Description PRIMARY PURPOSE Implement reliability improvements to OPQL equipment, improve overall reliability, and provide technical support to offshore personnel. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Overview Manage a team of maintenance engineers to ensure the facility mechanical equipment is maintained and that improvements are implemented to increase plant uptime. Equipment includes all mechanical equipment including piping, vessels, pumps, compressors, turbines, life boats, cranes and a variety of other equipment. General Duties The position is based onshore but has expected regular offshore visibility (1-2 visits per month and quarterly visits of 1-2 weeks at a time.) Some visits to factories and warehouses are required. This work includes activities such as: Managing and coordinating personnel to implement and execute maintenance strategies Managing equipment failures and maintenance issues Monitoring and attending critical maintenance and repair activities Updating equipment technical information and Maximo spare parts lists Implementing spare parts optimization strategies Developing and implementing long term maintenance strategies Developing shutdown work packs Investigating, developing, and implementing Management of Change (MOC) for equipment modifications Interfacing with site personnel, management, vendors, and other departments as required Interpret the historic performance information in the preparation of business cases Carry out duties in accordance with OPQL safety, environmental and quality policies and procedures Other Activities Attend weekly team meetings to update Maintenance Team Leader of ongoing works / concerns. Provide call out support as required by ongoing operations. To promote, support, and implement departments ongoing safety improvement plans. To promote effective safety communications through regular “what if” and safety meetings. Qualifications Education/Professional/Technical Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications: • Technical college / trade school graduate (Mechanic, Millwright, Pipe Fitter) would be considered given additional offshore experience in leadership roles Professional/Technical Knowledge:• Good presentation, communication, and written skills• Experience with predictive maintenance techniques and use • Computerized maintenance management systems• Demonstrated proficiency with PC/software skills; project management skills, etc, and possess the ability to read and understand system maps and process P&ID’s, understand fluid flow, piping design, distributed control systems (DCS), SCADA design and process control basics• Proven analytical skills and organizational skills with high degree of competency Experience:• Minimum 10 years experience in maintenance and rotating equipment in oil and gas or petrochemical industries. Minimum of 5 years experience in offshore oil and gas is an advantage.• Experience and proven supervisory and leadership skills• Multi cultural and Middle East experience is a preference• Strong knowledge of operations and maintenance activities associated with gas and oil gathering, gas processing and gas compression. Physical Requirements:• Shall be fit enough to pass the annual OPQL Offshore medical test, and be able to work offshore if required Skills & Competencies:• Team player• A proven leader capable of initiating and implementing positive solutions• A decision-maker capable of making good business decisions with incomplete data•Self-starter with a strong desire to deliver superior results• Capable of working with and developing a team spirit with personnel from many diverse backgrounds• Good people skills with the ability to mentor and develop people• Experienced with ASME and API technical codes
